Sand and Water Table

This week we got a sand and water table. They are awesome!! I really like sand and water tables both as a teacher and as mother. From a strictly learning viewpoint, they are excellent. They help children learn about cause and effect in a way that is personal to each child. It uses the tactile senses which is a really important part of childhood development. As a mother, I love it because #1 we live in a condo,so I have no real yard, but this gives them options
#2 It keeps them busy and engaged so I can do things like blog or read!!

Heres a video of them enjoying the new toy!! I highly recommend you get one for your child their brain will thank you! Look how into it they are!!

A Trip to St. Louis

This weekend was a blast!! I went on an "old school" road trip with Jed and our good friend Josh. Now, to give some background for this: 5 years ago, a guy named Hayden was coming to Memphis to play in this small bar .. Jed and Josh have loved this guy for like 5 years so we were all going to go to this show, well because it was in a bar I couldn't go b/c I was only 20, so instead of going we stayed at Jed's house playing James Bond all night.... What great friends!! OKay so fast forward 5 years later, and I just randomly decide to get on his website and boom.. We have two weeks to plan this awesome trip.. ( because I mean the closest he is getting to us is St. Louis) Also, did I mention he wast the opening act!!:)

So, Okay,,, It's Saturday night about 6:00 we are driving to the show and trying to find something to eat and we drive through the Chinese ghetto.... and realize there aren't alot of options so we just decide to park and go have some food at the Church's Chicken ( We Aint Scared, we from Memphis) okay so we park and there is like one of those trailer things like right behind us... and we get out of the car and then................................. There is Hayden walking out of the building to apparently his trailer!!!! O My Gosh, I say, its you..... ( 0f course its him what an idiot!!!) so we talk to him for a few min. tell him we drove from Memphis to see him and we take pics together.... ( BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE)

SO, during the show he totally says " I met some people in the parking lot and I think they know some of my old stuff, and so he played a song just for us" in front of like all these people!! How cool is that!! This is one of those things that you cherish because it was just so surreal and I mean it will put a smile on my face thinking about it for the rest of my life.!! Then, after his set, we waited around near the exit and we ran into him again.. he signed our CD and talked to us for a few more minutes. Then we stayed and watched Feist. It was actually a pretty fun show. Then it was time for some White Castle and some sleep before heading back to the kids and the real world...( with of course a stop to Lambert's on the way home!!!) I'm including links to Hayden.... He's very Folksy, Indie... type music so, he's not for everyone but.... We love him baby!

Maybe its Just Me?

Today, I was at Wal-mart. I've never been a big fan of Wal-mart, its always too crowded and for some reason my kids seem to go nutso in there, I'm not sure if its the lights or the endless rows of merchandise. But they always have the best prices and when your on a budget there is no comparison. Anyways, today I went there to return something and the lady in front of me was returning CEREAL , strangely this is not the first time I have seen someone returning such a thing. So I'm wondering, is it just me or is that weird!!! I mean the box wasn't opened.... but hello find someone else who likes that kind of cereal.. but don't return it to the store for me to buy!!

Please tell me you agree!

Running (Jogging and Walking)

It has started.... yes, I Valorie Denise Fearnley Wheatley, have placed on the running shoes. Honestly, it sucks. Yesterday, I got up at 6:30 a.m. and went to run at McVay park. (Okay, let's be honest it was a combo of walk/run) Jamie Jonkman gave me the program she used to help her run a 5k. Thus, far this is what I realized about running....
1. I do not like it.
2. It makes me feel fatter.
3. Only people who are insane enjoy this type of thing.

Okay but seriously, yesterday my ears were like KILLING me... while I was running .. it felt like my eardrums wanted to burst and I'm not sure if it was the cold weather or what... Anyone who runs please let me know what that's all about.... Maybe I need to go the Dr. and have them looked at or if its just sensitivity to the cold air. I am supposed to run tomorrow and have a goal of running a 5k in May. (I'm not officially telling you which one yet)
